Are you ready for your first dance?

bride groom dancingIt a cherished memory at every reception…the first dance together for the bride and groom. There’s a lot of preparation that goes into those few moments. For instance, the couple have to pick a song. Usually it’s the couples favorite together, or just a romantic love song that they’ve always wanted to dance to. It’s very important because one of the questions they’ll be asked on many anniversaries in the future is “so what was the song for your first dance?”

Picking the song can be a challenge, but that’s only half the battle. A more important issue is, are you going to be able to dance it. This is why many couples choose slow, classic dance tunes. It’s relatively easy to slow dance; you just move your feet back and forth. Many couples want their first spin on the dance floor as husband and wife to be extra special; like maybe a waltz or even a tango. If the groom-to-be has two left feet, fear not, for a good dance class can be a fun activity for any engaged couple.

In order to save all these precious memories, one favor you may want to invest in are some good wedding frames favors to keep all the photographs of your first dance and the rest of the reception. If you’re going to be doing an elegant dance like a waltz or even just a slow dance, you can complement the atmosphere with some silver plated wedding favors for all your guests.

7/7/07…a lucky wedding day?

wedding venueIs July 7th, 2007 really going to be a lucky wedding day for couples getting married? Well, it is for one venue in Houston. They say that this particular day is turning out to be one of the busiest days they’ve ever had. Six big weddings are already planned for the day, but one determined couple wanted to be the very first bride and groom to tie the knot on 7/7/07. Their officially taking their vows at 12:01 a.m. ! The location is located on 20 beautiful acres of Texas forest and only has one slot left for some happy couple.

If you want your nuptials to be special, you can fight to get a slot at a special location, or you can go the easier route and work your decorations. For example, if you want a beach vacation feel to your reception, just dress it up with island decorations and beach wedding favors.  You can always find discount wedding favors that are still beautiful and special for your big day, so don’t think you have to spend a bundle on this, either.

Tom Cruise to perform wedding this Wednesday!

tom cruise katie holmesYes, you read right, the amazingly versatile Tom Cruise is now going to perform a scientology wedding for his close fellow scientologist friend, James Packer. Cruise is said to be in the highest level of scientolgy, and Packer is, incidentally, one of the richest devotee’s to the belief system. Packer is set to marry the model/singer Erica Baxter in an upscale location in France. A swanky hotle in Paris is going to serve as the reception locale for the wedding guests.

I have to admit I respect Mr. Cruise for his devotion to his faith, even in light of being ostracized by Hollywood. I strive to follow my own faith that well. That being said, this really is a bit weird. Oh well, to each his own, and now I’ve seen it all.

If you’re a bride thinking of having a fancy ceremony in an exotic location and you want the perfect accessories for your decor, consider checking out some cool beach wedding favors for the reception if you’re having your nuptials on a beach. One relatively inexpensive way to accomplish this without spending a lot of money is with candle wedding favors. Everybody loves them and they’re never too expensive. They also come in so many shapes and sizes.

Pre-wedding jitters

wedding jittersEveryone gets a little nervous before they say “I Do”. It’s perfectly normal, but just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it feels good, and many brides and grooms wish there was some way to ease the pre-wedding jitters. Fortunately, there are some practical treatments. A warm bath in the morning, for example, helps start out the hectic big day in a relaxing way. Perhaps getting a pre-nuptial massage rather than a prenuptial agreement would help ease tension.

One surefire way to reduce stress when planning the special day is to have fun at the bachelor and bachelorette party with fun the groomsmen wedding gifts and bridesmaids gifts. The maid of honor, best man and the rest of the wedding party are the closest friends there to support you at this most special occasion of life. Engraved mugs for the guys is something that can used at the party. Brides can give her girls things like make-up kits that the whole group can use and enjoy.

The perfect wedding gown…from Target?

wedding dressEveryone wants to save money on their wedding, but one thing that brides accept is going to cost money is their wedding gown. Well, that’s been the traditional view, anyway. Now, the discount chain store Target is offering wedding dresses online for under $200!

This reflects a trend by the company to sell high end products at affordable prices, as opposed to the “hill billy” stigma associated with Wal-Mart. There are other ways to save money on your big day without getting a discount gown, however.

One easy step is to get discount decorations and cheap wedding favors for the reception. That’s where a lot of money gets spent. The presents don’t have to look cheap, though. Candle wedding favors are affordable and always look great.

Protect yourself from getting scammed on your wedding day

bride and groomIt’s a nightmare that many brides and grooms have: It’s the day of their wedding, and the caterer doesn’t show up, or the florist doesn’t deliver the flowers, or the photographer gets into a fight with one of your family members. There are many things that can go wrong on your special day, unfortunately, but these afore mentioned examples are all caused by hiring people that rip you off. There’s no sin in getting fooled, it happens to all of us at one time or another. Your wedding is such a special time, though, that it deserves extra attention to all the details, especially to whom you hire.

Personal references are helpful, but in my experience they are not enough to ensure that the person or business doesn’t do something stupid. I suggest doing some online research into each person and business you invest your wedding budget into. Don’t trust a business just because they are offering a discount. Still, many businesses, like ones that sell inexpensive wedding favors are upstanding. Start by checking public records to see if there are any lawsuits against the business. Also check to see if there are any personal charges against individuals you hire. Then, make sure that there’s a refund policy, and learn it well. You may need to use it. Last but not least, always have a good backup plan if things do go wrong. For example, if the photographer or videographer doesn’t show up, have someone on standby who can fill in. If actual items like the flowers are a no show, find a store that you can get decent floral arrangements quickly at. It also helps if you get your bouquet ahead of time and store it yourself. If you want to make your favors planning easier, simply shop online to buy elegant favors to match your theme and order ahead of time so that they will be in your possesion on the big day.
